Veterinarian with a dogThe University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center seeks a locum tenens to help staff our busy Primary Care service beginning January 4, 2021, through May 7, 2021, three days per week (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday). Responsibilities include the management of clinical patients, including participation in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of Primary Care cases with the expectation the locum tenens will see seven cases per day and provide clinical teaching to the students on the small animal Primary Care rotation.

Our Primary Care Service is an integral part of the college's veterinary curriculum, providing experiential learning opportunities for senior veterinary students and interns and a vital clinical service within the Veterinary Medical Center (VMC).  In addition, the Primary Care Service, its clinicians, clients and patients benefit tremendously from ready access to the VMC's team of specialists in 16 different disciplines, renowned clinical researchers, and some of the most advanced veterinary diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities in the world. The VMC is one of the largest and busiest veterinary teaching hospitals in the nation, serving close to 35,000 cases a year.
