The College of Veterinary Medicine and the Veterinary Medical Center at the University of Minnesota are committed to serving people and their animals through research, teaching, clinical care, and service.
Find the care you need for:
The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory provides quality diagnostic services for all animal species.
We diagnose diseases, conduct research, and develop new diagnostic methods. We serve as Minnesota’s only full service laboratory for animal health diagnosis.
Our services include: necropsy, bacteriology, clinical chemistry, electron microscopy, serology, endocrinology, histopathology, immunohistochemistry, virology, parasitology, molecular diagnostics, and toxicology | View all services and fees | Submissions
The Clinical Investigation Center conducts a number of clinical trials for specific conditions and diseases. Our hospital clients and other pet owners are very important to the success of our many clinical studies.
Your pet may qualify for participation in new treatments and new vaccines and medications.
To get an idea of what other clinical studies have taken place, review our completed studies. Your veterinarian can also help you determine if a study is appropriate for your animal.
Simply put, you have an amazing staff at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Clinic! Without the professionals mentioned above, I know Austin would not have survived. They are kind, compassionate people who do more than just “care for the patient.” They care for the families of the patients as well and I cannot ever thank you all enough!

Before the accident, she was the most playful, active, happy puppy that I've ever owned. I never thought I would see that side of her again, but she is even happier and more playful than before the accident. Again, I am incredibly grateful for all that your facility does. Thank you for everything.
