Temporary changes to overnight emergency services

Please be aware that due to industry-wide veterinary staffing shortages, the emergency and critical care services at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center’s Lewis Small Animal Hospital have updated operations. Emergency receiving is closed from Thursday through Sunday from midnight to 8 a.m.

Normal 24-hour emergency services remain fully active from Sunday 8 a.m. through Wednesday 11:59 pm. If your pet requires urgent medical attention during our overnight closure hours, please view our updated list of emergency and urgent care resources to locate an open facility. We appreciate your understanding while we actively work to rebuild our overnight team.

Monday: Open 24 Hours
Tuesday: Open 24 Hours
Wednesday: Open until Midnight
Thursday: Open 8 a.m. to Midnight
Friday: Open 8 a.m. to Midnight
Saturday: Open 8 a.m. to Midnight
Sunday: Opens at 8:00 a.m. and remains open 24 hours

Urgent care hours

Monday - Friday: 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
