The Study
All the Canine uroliths submitted to the Minnesota Urolith Center from January 1991 through January 1992 (13 months) were retrospectively evaluated if they were of 100% mineral composition (N = 2041).
Based on this study of 2041 uroliths from 90 breeds of dogs, it is now possible to evaluate the chemistry of a stone based on select information. The radiographic information is based on over 350 uroliths from a different time / date study (N = 437). Many (all but 181) were not from the 2041 sample of the regional urolith population identified above.
The data originated from a study in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by Ralph Charles Weichselbaum, DVM. Most of the information has been published; we will cite the appropriate publication whenever possible.
The specific publication related to the prediction algorithms is: Weichselbaum RC, Feeney DA, Jessen CR, et. al.: An Integrated Epidemiologic and Radiographic Algorithm for Canine Urocystolith Mineral Type Prediction. (Accepted for publication in Vet Radiol Ultrasound, 12/00)
